The research at the Institute of the Far Eastern Studies, RAS for a long time was concentrated exclusively on the political, economic and cultural processes in China, as well as on relations between our countries. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, given the influence exerted by the countries of East and Southeast Asia on the world economy and global political processes, research centers were established at the Institute to study current trends in Japan, the Korean Peninsula, Vietnam and the ASEAN countries. Taking into account the geopolitical tensions and the intensification of the interstate contradictions, the Institute creates new research centers with the purpose to study and analyse the approaches of various states and non-state actors to the development of bilateral and multilateral relations. Research centers of the Institute organize and hold conferences and round tables.
